CHAI Collaborative Ensemble (CCE) is a Chicago-based collective of musicians dedicated to honoring history, advocating for new works, and engaging with communities through performances of mixed vocal and instrumental chamber music. Through innovative programming and artistic collaborations with other community-based organizations in the Chicago area, we strive to create a space for camaraderie and courageous conversations, as well as share beautiful music with our audiences. Our core values are excellence and integrity, on and off stage: we stand for community, collaboration, and inclusion.
Since our inception in 2015, our repertoire has run the gamut, ranging from beloved classics to newly commissioned works, with many hidden gems along the way. We are also a flexible ensemble. Our programming possibilities are nearly endless, and audiences are treated to music performed by varying combinations of instruments and voices at our concerts.
In our 2017-18 Season, we started to participate in musical collaborations for social good, and raised awareness about homelessness in Chicago and funds for the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, in partnership with Latitude 49. Additionally, we commissioned and premiered three new works, by Eric Malmquist, Marc LeMay, and Dale Trumbore.
Our 2018-19 Season is a continuation of this work, as we perform works by living composers and lesser-known composers from the past. We also continue our musical collaborations for social good, this time in partnership with the Chicago Chamber Choir, to benefit the Night Ministry. In looking forward to future seasons, CHAI Collaborative Ensemble has plans to continue performing repertoire from all eras, in addition to commissioning new works and collaborating with other organizations in the city of Chicago.
